Project Description:
The project “Support to Ganga Rejuvenation” aims at strengthening capacities for the implementation of integrated Ganga river basin management at central and state level.

This project focuses on the entire Ganga river basin in India. Measures at the regional level will be concentrated in the state of Uttarakhand. Partners are the central government, states ad-ministrations and selected municipalities.

The measure follows a multi-sector approach at the national level that considers all major factors affecting river basin management: urban and industrial wastewater; river water for irrigation, hydroelectric power generation, solid waste pollution, shore degradation.

The working areas have been defined as follows:
Working area 1: Advisory services and strategic support at central level
Working area 2: Strategic support for implementation in the state of Uttarakhand

The consulting agency will support the project with a focus on working area 2. Contributions of the Consulting Firm are requested in the following fields:
1. Capacity Development
2. River Basin Management and integrated planning
3. Industrial wastewater treatment
4. Domestic wastewater treatment


Qualifications:
• University degree in Engineering, Environmental Management/ Natural Resource Protection or related subject
• At least 15 years of relevant experience in the water and/ or environment sector including institutional development and project management
• Technical background/ experiences in municipal and industrial wastewater management, preferably also in river basin management and water resource protection
• Experiences in Organizational Development and the GIZ Capacity Development approach
• He/she should be familiar with GIZ's capacity WORKS management model.
• High technical and advisory competences, strong in intercultural communication and sensitive in interacting with cooperation partners
• Ability to lead a team or organizations (including managing a budget)
• Ability to develop a strategic plan and related initiatives, as well as performance measures to assess outcomes;
• Proven ability to facilitate high level meetings and stakeholder processes, and work as part of a team
• Minimum 5 years working experience in a developing country, preferably in South Asia/ India
• Excellent English language skills
• German language skills would be desirable.

Duration:
30 months (June 2016 - December 2018)
